Controller of Correctional Service in Edo State South-South Nigeria, Philomena Emehinola has charged officers and men in her Command to continue to give utmost priority to the security of custodial centres and other Service formations.
This is contained in a statement released to journalists on Sunday by the State Publix Relations Officer, Aminu Suleman after the first quarterly inspection visit of the Controller to various Custodial Centres and Correctional Formations across Edo State.
The Controller charged the officers and men irrespective of the section, duty or professional unit to ensure that the inmates were in humane custody for reformation, rehabilitation and reintegration into the society in a bid to ensure a crime free and economically vibrant society as being championed by the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa.
The Controller also commended personnel of custodial centres for their commitment to duty which she said has resulted to the successes recorded so far and charged them to do more while also warning recalcitrant ones to desist from wrongdoings or be dealt with according to extant rules and regulations.
The custodial centres visited by the Controller include the Medium Security Custodial Centres in Benin City, Oko, Ubiaja, the Female Custodial Facility at Auchi, and the Correctional Farm Centres at Ogba and Ozalla.
