Nigeria’s ruling party the All Progressives Congress has acknowledged the present economic hardship in the country saying it is the only way to reset Nigeria’s long term broken economy.

National Publicity Secretary of the Party Felix Morka stated this in a statement in Abuja that the unwillingness of previous administrations to undertake reforms and tackle the problems have been responsible for the economic downturn.

Morka’s statement is a response to the claims of the party’s former Vice-chairman (North-West) Salihu Lukman that the APC ruined the country with bad economic policies and corruption and called on opposition parties and Nigerians to vote out APC in 2027.

But Morka noted that it was ludicrous to tout opposition PDP and Labour Party “that cannot even manage their own internal affairs as capable of offering responsible and visionary leadership to Nigeria” .

According to Morka, it would be easy and painless for President Tinubu to do as his predecessors have done, continue business as usual, kick the can down the road for future administration to deal with while the rot and stagnation fester.

He dismissed, Salihu Lukman’s assertion as one of personality grounded in opportunistic politicking, prioritizing his personal ego and interest over that of all institutions he has ever served.
