Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting inclusive governance and democratic consolidation as the state hosts All Progressives Congress, APC’s first public hearing on the amendment of its constitution in Calabar.
The event marked the formal commencement of a nationwide process to strengthen internal democracy and expand participation within the ruling party.
Governor Bassey Otu, who was represented by Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elveet Ayambem, welcomed delegates and members of the Constitutional Review Committee led by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for initiating the review process, describing it as a bold step towards repositioning the APC as a model for democratic inclusion.
APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, said the planned amendment is to fill existing gaps and ensure a more functional and transparent framework in line with President Tinubu’s directive.
