National Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have called on Justice Stephen Daylop Pam to recuse himself from the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC),
National Assembly candidates of the APC as well as candidates of other political parties.

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State had approached the court seeking to disqualify the candidates of other political parties including those of the main opposition APC from participating in the election next year.

Spokesperson to the APC candidates, Ezekiel Ezemonye, said they have written to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court , requesting that the matter be withdrawn from Justice Pam and re-assigned to another Judge; alleging that if Justice Pam were allowed to proceed as the trial judge, he would foist on them a helplessness situation.

The candidates considered it suspicious and wondered why it seemed to be that Justice Pam has been the only Federal High Court judge that has entertained cases filed by the PDP seeking to delist other Political Parties from the 2023 election ballots.

They urged Justice Pam to toe the path of honor and hands off the case for another Judge to handle.
