Some stakeholders from the Northcentral zone in Nigeria have approached the Federal Capital Territory high court in Maitama, Abuja seeking to stop Abdullahi Ganduje, from further parading himself as the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

While sitting section 223 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, the stakeholders are calling for proper zoning of the Chairmanship position to the Northcentral as enshrined in the constitution of the APC.

The defendants in the suit are Abdullahi Ganduje, the All Progressive Congress, The National Executive Committee of the APC, The National Working Committee of the APC, as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respondents, respectively.

In the originating summons, the plaintiffs amongst others, are seeking a declaration, whether by the provisions of Article 7(vii) and (ix) of the APC Constitution (Supra) the APC is not bound by the consensus reached by its leaders at the 2022 National Convention held in Abuja, Nigeria, that the National Chairman of the APC from 2022 to 2026 must be someone from the North Central Geopolitical Zone of the country.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the suit.
