A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman, has called for an urgent review of the leadership recruitment process in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Wednesday titled “Narrow Politics and Questions of Democratic Development’, Lukman said his recommendation should be taken seriously as the issues go beyond partisan lines.

Lukman’s statement is based on allegations made by some politicians especially Gov. Ortom of Benue state who sees the Buhari Presidency as planning towards what he describes as ‘Islamisation’ and ‘fulanisation’ of Nigeria.
He described the accusation by Gov. Ortom as taking politics beneath the realm of logical reasoning.
He advised the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to examine the allegation adding that the failure of the PDP to take advantage of the so-called Islamisation and Fulanisation agenda, as alleged, in the 2023 election will confirm Ortom’s inability to prove the weighty allegation.
Lukman warned political parties in Nigeria to discourage ethnic and religious-based campaigns and messages of hatred.
