The Local Government Area congresses of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Abia State, have been concluded amidst reports of a factional exercise is taking place elsewhere in the State.

In Abia Central and Abia North Senatorial zones of the State where ait.live monitored the exercise, elected ward delegates trooped out in their numbers to elect the local government executives of the Party in what they described as a free, fair and transparent exercise.

Efforts to get reactions from the alleged faction was not successful, as none of their members were seen at the locations monitored.

Reports across Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria indicate there were minimal controversies and massive turn out of Party members as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Saturday elected its executives in the 13 Local government areas of the State.

However, the exercise did not start till about 11am when arrangements for electoral materials were concluded at the Party’s State Secretariat in Abakaliki for onward distributions to the various Local Government Areas.

At about 12 noon, Party faithfuls in Ezzah South Local Government Area were seen gathered in their numbers at the council’s mini stadium, Onueke, ready to exercise their franchise in a calm atmosphere.

The story was not different in Ohaozara, Afikpo North and Ivo LGAs monitored by ait.live.

Party stakeholders say they resorted to consensus arrangement in the conduct of the congress as directed by the party leadership in their last meeting.
