The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has conducted its local congresses into the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State, to elect 27 executive members.
In Katsina, the exercise was peaceful and hitch-free, due to the consensus arrangement entered by the party stakeholders in the state, to produce the officials, despite a court order stopping the conduct.

Despite the consensus arrangement, heavy security presence, which included men of the Nigerian Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and other security agencies, were seen in some places the congress was monitored, especially at Batagarwa local government Secretariat of the party.
A chieftain of the party and Commissioner for Works, Transport and Housing, Tasi’u Dandagoro, who was seen monitoring the exercise said about 918 local government officials are to emerge, through the consensus arrangement.
He described the process as simple and rancour-free, as seen in the just concluded ward congresses.
Dandagoro believes that the same success is expected to be replicated, during the forthcoming state congresses.
