Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and those of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have clashed in Oba Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Ait.live gathered that the campaign train of the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, was already in Oba Akoko for its local government campaign when the convoy of the APC candidate and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, was passing through the same route to neighbouring Ikare Akoko for the senatorial bye-election rally.

The Head, Media Research of Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation, Samuel Fasua, in a statement, claimed that no fewer than five persons sustained varying degrees of injuries during the clash.
The party alleged that the convoy of Jegede was also badly damaged, while the governorship candidate himself had to take refuge at the palace of the Oba of Akoko, Adeniyi Adegoroye, during the clash.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Akeredolu-Ayedatiwa Campaign Organisation, Richard Olabode, while reacting to the incident, pointed accusing figures at supporters of the PDP for the violence, claiming that one car belonging to the APC was set ablaze in the mayhem.
