The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the ruling party remains undeterred by what he described as “shallow criticisms” from the opposition, insisting that recent political developments confirm the APC’s growing national appeal.

Speaking on Friday at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja the chairman said the APC is becoming increasingly uncomfortable to its opponents because of its deliberate and principled efforts to build a truly pan-Nigerian political party rooted in progressive politics.

According to him, the party’s aggressive and purposeful mobilisation drive across the country has continued to attract Nigerians from all walks of life, cutting across age, gender and social class, with the objective of strengthening party structures at all levels ahead of future elections.

The APC chairman noted that several governors and their political structures have recently joined the party, making it more formidable and better prepared for upcoming electoral contests. He described the wave of defections as clear evidence that “everybody wants to be a member of APC.”

He further highlighted the party’s growing dominance at the national level, pointing to its commanding majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, and commended the leadership of the National Assembly for what he called effective party evangelism that has attracted defections from the opposition.

The chairman also announced progress in the digitisation of the party’s membership register through the introduction of an electronic registration system, saying it would enhance transparency, accuracy, efficiency and data-driven decision-making, while strengthening internal democracy.

President Bola ATinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the NEC meeting, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders, as the APC reaffirmed its resolve to remain united, expansion-focused and committed to retaining power despite opposition pressure.
