The political tension in Ebonyi State may have heightened with stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) boldly confronting the Caucus of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Federal lawmakers to desist from trying to blackmail the State Governor, Dave Umahi.

The PDP National Assembly Caucus had on May 18, 2018 addressed a press conference accusing the Governor of intimidation and harassment of its party members; forcing them to join him in the APC.

They accused Umahi of using the new security outfit, “Ebubeagu” to unleash thugs on PDP members in the State.

The Caucus of APC members resident in Abuja comprising mostly former lawmakers
condemned in very strong terms comments by the Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the National Assembly.

Leader of the APC group, Senator Julius Ucha said the claim by the PDP lawmakers led by Senator, Sam Egwu was mischievous, misleading and founded purely on nothing but falsehood.

He accused the PDP lawmakers of being grossly insensitive to the insecurity ravaging the State and indeed the entire country.

He expressed displeasure at the action of the PDP lawmakers which he said was wicked and embarrassing.

Ucha stressed that the federal lawmakers should have known better to stand by the Governor at such a critical time and not use the security situation to blackmail the Governor for cheap political gains they could not achieve through proper representation of the people.

Speaking, a member, Federal House of Representatives, Comrade Chinedu Ogah(Ikwo/Ezza South) Constituency
said the trouble started when the Governor dumped the PDP and pitched his tent with APC in 2020.

He said the PDP lawmakers are yet to come to terms with the fact that Umahi has left them and have been mounting pressure on him to guarantee for them their return tickets to the National Assembly.

According to Oga, PDP has withered in Ebonyi State; adding that Egwu and his group have completely lost relevance in the State and have decided to stay in Abuja to cast baseless aspersions on the excellent performance of the Gov. Umahi.

The group warns the PDP lawmakers to desist from making such unfounded allegation against Gov. Umahi who they said had by all accounts continued to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

It also called on the people not to pay any attention to the wild allegations by the PDP lawmakers; describing it as the last kick of a dying horse.
