Ararume Reinstatement: Buhari commits to due process on court ruling

President Muhammadu Buhari says he has taken due notice of the judgment by the Federal High Court, Abuja, reinstating Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as the non-executive chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).


The President said while the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation /Minister for Justice is yet to receive a formal copy of the ruling, the President said he acknowledges the fact that due judicial process must be followed, and NNPCL has already taken steps to go on appeal.

The President in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity Femi Adesina on Wednesday says his administration respects the Rule of Law, and nothing will be done outside it to resolve the matter.
He called for calm from all parties to the matter.
The Federal High Court on Tuesday nullified the removal of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume as a non Executive Chairman of the newly Incorporated Nigeria National Petroleum Company, (NNPC), by a letter from President Mohammadu Buhari dated January 17,2022.
Justice Inyang Ekwo in his judgment ordered that the sum of five billion naira be awarded to Ararume for damages incurred as a result of his removal from office
The court also ordered that Ararume be reinstated to office as non executive chairman of the NNPC and all rights related to the office be accrued him.
