Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has flagged off the final motor rally to Argungu as part of activities marking the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.
The rally, which commenced in Sokoto, is taking participants through Shagari, Jega and Birnin Kebbi before terminating in Argungu town. Governor Aliyu charged drivers to observe traffic rules and avoid reckless driving throughout the event.

He commended the organisers for deploying Made-in-Nigeria vehicles, describing the initiative as a reflection of Nigeria’s growing technological capacity and commitment to national development. The governor noted that the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival remains a major platform for promoting cultural heritage, unity, tourism and socio-economic development in Kebbi State and the wider northern region.

Governor Aliyu also praised Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for reviving the globally recognised festival, while officials and organisers described the motor rally as a key cultural component of the annual event.
