President of Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, Reverend Dr. Stephen Panya advocates that the recently replaced National Anthem of “Arise O’ Compatriots” by President Bola Tinubu should be restored with its original music.
In an interview with Journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital to mark the end of his six-year tenure, he believes that the anthem more accurately encapsulates the collective aspirations of the country and should, therefore, be restored with its original music.
Recently, President Tinubu signed a bill hurriedly passed by the National Assembly for the reversal to the old National Anthem introduced by the colonial masters during Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
While some welcomed the development, many others are against the move including the ECWA President who feels that National Anthem is not the immediate needs of Nigerians.
While emphasizlsing the profound symbolism and thematic relevance of the original National Anthem, the ECWA President expressed conviction that the lyrical content of the now former anthem resonates deeply with core values.
He underscored the intrinsic connection between the anthem’s verses and the broader national narrative, suggesting that its message continues to hold profound relevance in the contemporary context and proposing a unique approach that preserves the timeless essence of the former anthem.
