Year in year out the nation celebrates Nigeria’s fallen heroes who fought to preserve the unity of their father land.
But how have the families they left behind fared and for those who are still alive
what measures has Government put in place to celebrate their contributions and to also enable them sustain and enjoy their retirement?
It is common to hear government at all levels pledge to cater for families of fallen heroes and also retired soldiers when observing the Armed forces remembrance day, but beyond these rhetorics what happens to the retired soldiers, families of the fallen heroes and the promises usually made.
The legionnaire say government must go beyond empty promises and make conscious efforts to support families of fallen heroes as a way of appreciating their contributions

They also call on the government to seriously address the security situation in the country and provide farming implements as many of them are desirous to farm but lack the support.
They also want the widows and children of those who died to be well taken care of to ease their pains.
How government builds confidence amongst these group of persons to give them a sense of belonging remains to be seen.
