Suspected armed robbers have attacked Radio Nigeria Prime 101.5FM in Jimgbe, Logi State making away with critical transmission equipment valued at millions of naira.
The daring operation, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, lasted more than three hours, as no security response was recorded throughout the incident.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of Radio Nigeria, Jimoh Adeiza, described the attack as a major blow to the operations of the station.
Among the items stolen are 22 transmission modules, copper feeder components, armoured cables, generator batteries, and other vital broadcast infrastructure.
The General Manager added that the Zonal Director has been notified, and appealed to security agencies and relevant stakeholders for urgent intervention.
The attack has left the station completely off-air and raised fresh concerns over the safety of media facilities and other critical infrastructure in the country.
While security agencies have yet to make any arrests, investigations are said to be underway, with the authorities calling on the public to provide useful information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
