Army Day celebrations end with more hardware support from Government

The 2020 army day celebration has ended with the Federal government pledging to continuously support the Nigerian army with the required hardware and logistics to safeguard the territorial integrity of the nation.

Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Magashi who stated this at the Nigerian army super camp in Faskari, Katsina state also charged the army to redouble efforts towards ending all forms of insecurities faced by different regions in the country.

While appreciating the efforts of the Nigerian army in keeping the nation safe, the Minister promised that the federal governments will make the army more responsive to their duties.

Magashi further charged the army to sustain the achievements recorded over the years and liberate all the states facing security to bring about development.

Earlier in his address, the chief of army staff lieutenant general Tukur Buratai said that prior to his assumption as the army chief, his major concerns were both the welfare and human development which today resulted in tremendous strategic success.

He added that, the development of the Nigerian army is a work in progress aimed at ensuring security of lives and property, while assuring that, the army under his watch will keep striving to defend the nation.

Buratai said that his drive towards motivating and rewarding hard work among officers and men of the Nigerian army will continue.

The event was rounded up with the presentation of the chief of army staff commendation awards to 20 officers and men including a Lady, Lance corporal wunti kuni, who produced Jersey pullovers for the Nigerian army for use against the cold weather. She also trained more officers to produce large quantity for army.

The compendium of Nigerian army transformation: the Buratai years 2015-2020 which showcased the achievements of the army chief was also launched.
