A suspected militant leader in Benue State, Kefas Aondofa popularly known as Azonto has reportedly been arrested by joint security operatives.

Azonto is the second in command to the late militant warlord, Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Gana, who was killed by the military over a year ago on his way to receive a second amnesty.

A military source who did not want to be named disclosed to newsmen that Azonto was arrested in Taraba State on Thursday following a joint operation by the military and Department of State Services, DSS.

He further explained that the notorious gang leader and members of his gang had been terrorising villages in Ukum Local Government Area and other parts of Benue State until his arrest.

“Actually, the arrest was made in Taraba and not here (Benue). You know he has been on our watch list. He has been terrorizing communities around Ukum area.
