The Nigerian Army has released the medical record of the late General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Major-General Olu Irefin to set the record straight and rule out insinuations on his death.
In a statement by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Sagir Musa containing a graphic details of the last moment of late General Irefin, the Army spokesperson, said the action is in view of fake news emanating from unknown group or individuals, hence the need to inform members of the public about events that led to the death of the late senior officer.

The cause of his death was reported as respiratory failure secondary to the complications of Covid-19 infection.
The statement adds that the explanation is essential in order to ward off mischievous and wicked insinuations from certain quarters alluding unwholesome act as responsible for the death of the respected senior officer.
The NIgerian Army describes the sudden death of the former GOC as a painful one, while extending its condolences to the family he left behind.
