The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai says, no element within and outside the country will be allowed to destabilize the country, under any guise.

Lieutenant-General Buratai was speaking, when he met with Principal Staff Officers, General Officers Commanding and Field Commanders in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of the army chief, the spokesman for the Army, Colonel Sagir Musa explained that, the legitimate agitation by the EndSars protesters has been hijacked and hoodlums have had a field day looting and destroying properties.

Colonel Musa adds that, hijackers had perfected a plot to call out the army, in a manner similar to what was done against the police.

The army spokesman says it is a mischievous and deliberate mispresentation of troops effort to ensure law and order.

He says the army is being vilified for carrying out its legitimate duty, in the wake of the protest.

The army spokesman however, avoided talking explicitly about the Lekki Toll Gate incident, but implied that the army’s action was against miscreants.

The Chief of Army Staff also made it clear that he will not tolerate any act of disloyalty by officers and men of the army.
