The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has unveiled a bold and forward-looking vision of an adaptable and combat-ready Nigerian Army, assuring Nigerians of a stronger and more responsive military posture in the New Year 2026.

Lieutenant General Shaibu, who was represented by the Corps Commander Signals, Major General Mohammed Abdullahi, gave the assurance during the Yuletide Season Luncheon with Troops at the Frontline 2025 in Daban Lema, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He said adaptability will be the defining strength of the Nigerian Army in the coming year, noting that modern threats require a force that is flexible, intelligence-driven and capable of swift responses across multiple theatres of operation.

Commending the frontline troops in Daban Lema, the Army Chief praised officers and soldiers for their resilience, discipline and unwavering commitment throughout the past year.

He described their performance as the solid foundation upon which a more agile, mission-ready and future-focused Nigerian Army will be built in 2026.

According to the Army Chief, enhanced combat readiness remains central to this renewed posture, with emphasis on continuous training, improved logistics and stronger inter-agency collaboration.

He reaffirmed that operational efficiency and professionalism would be intensified to ensure troops are fully equipped—physically and mentally—to confront threats to peace and security within a robust joint and multi-agency framework.

Lieutenant General Shaibu assured Nigerians of the Army’s unshakable commitment to its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.

He expressed confidence that with renewed dedication, unity of purpose and sustained public support, the Nigerian Army will enter the New Year as a more adaptable, resilient and combat-ready force, capable of delivering lasting peace and security across the nation.
