The Nigerian Army has said that it has commenced investigation into the involvement of it’s personnel, following a report of extortion and the gruesome murder of a woman in Katsina State by some troops.

The Army therefore assured the public that anyone of its personnel found wanting in connection with the allegation, will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Muhammed Yerima.

According to the report, it was alleged that a woman was arrested in a commercial vehicle, in possession of large sums of money, estimated at N420,000 by the members of a local vigilante group on Wednesday 7th May 2021 at about 10 pm, in a village called Yankara, along the Funtua-Gusau road.

Yerima in the statement added that , the woman was handed over to the troops for interrogation over the source of the money, but a few days later, she was said to have been killed by the troops.
