Assaulted Lagos Nursery School Boy Gets Scholarship To University Level

LAGOS

For three year old toddler, Abayomi Michael who was assaulted by his 45-year old teacher in a privately owned school in Ikorodu area of Lagos, it is from a moment of pain and distrust to a lifelong opportunity.

The boy who was smacked repeatedly by his female teacher for his inability to write numeracy after several attempts
as captured in a viral video, has been awarded an education scholarship up to the university level.

AIT News gathered that the scholarship is not coming from the state or federal government but from a privately owned real estate firm based in Lagos.

In addition to the scholarship, the pupil got a two bedroom flat for his family and one million naira to take care of immediate needs.

AIT leanrt that the boy’s mother is a widow and a cleaner in the same school where the assault took place.

Lagos State Police Command had arraigned Stella Nwadigbo, the 45-year-old woman, on charges of indecent treatment and assault of a child.

Nwadigbo was brought before the Lagos State Chief Magistrate Court in Ogba following the circulation of a disturbing viral video showing her abusing the three-year-old pupil.

The suspect, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail.

The Lagos State Government has also invoked the Child Rights Act and the Lagos State Policy on Safeguarding and Child Protection against Stella Nwadigbo for the indecent treatment of Michael, one of her pupils.
