Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP)at the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State have called on President Muhammad Buhari, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Board of Technical Education to set up an investigative panel over allegations against the Rector of the Polytechnic, John Kolawole.

The follows a series of meetings held last year by ASUP over corrupt practices, violation of regulations, deviation from the procedure, misconduct of school activities, and unethical practices allegedly committed by the rector of the institution.

Some of the allegations levelled against the Rector according to the Chairman, Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic, Ede Chapter, Nurudeen Mosapa, include conducting examinations without the approval of an academic board, a continuation of dual award programmes, and the floating of controversial part-time programmes at Ilori College of Education.

Mosapa stressed that the conduct of the Rector has affected the school’s academic activities negatively.

The Rector of the institution described the allegations levelled against him as false and an attempt to destroy his reputation.

He advised the ASUP to allow peace to reign in the institution, stressing that he will continue to engage them in constructive dialogue in the interest of the students.
