The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has issued a 21- day notice of strike action to and ultimatum to the federal government effective on Monday to address all outstanding issues including what it described as the continued poor funding of education in Nigeria.
ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke who gave the notice during a press conference in Umuahia the Abia State capital, also took a swipe at what he called the interference of the World Bank and IMF in the country’s governance and the infamous “subsidy is gone “ pronouncement of president Bola Tinubu at his inauguration – a situation Osodeke said has imposed unprecedented hyperinflation on the citizens.
He said ASUU condemns in strong terms, the seeming refusal of the federal and state governments to decisively address all outstanding issues with ASUU and expressed dissatisfaction with the intervention by the minister of education in resolving the issues.
