The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is insisting it does not want to suspend its five-month old strike, but to permanently end the action.
ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, at a press briefing in Abuja, blamed the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, for the prolonged action.
While appreciating President Buhari for directing the Education Minister to take over talks, ASUU is insisting that the issues at stake were near conclusion, but for Ngige, they remain unresolved.
When asked if ASUU’s rejection of the Professorship award to Communication Minister, Isa Pantami was responsible for the delay in the approval of UTAS, ASUU insisted it will not support illegality.
Meanwhile, ASUU has declared support for the July 26 and 27 nationwide protest declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.
