The Students’ Union Government of Delta State University, Abraka, has accused the Vice- Chancellor of the University, Professor Andy Egwunyenga of deliberate moves to disrupt their academic calendar in order to pacify the National body of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU.
According to the students leadership, the actions of the VC were contrary to the position of the Delta state government on the ASUU strike.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the students called for the sack of the VC, if he refuses to reopen the university for normal academic work.
The statement noted that the Delta state government has been paying the contentious allowances which formed the basis of the ASUU strike.
They also noted that the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, had on several occasions reiterated his administration’s resolve to maintain a cordial relationship with ASUU state chapter.
After years of not participating in ASUU activities, the Delta state university, DELSU, on the 17th of February 2022, announced its decision to join the initial one moth warning strike of ASUU.
