As the Federal Government of Nigeria enters negotiations with the striking unions of the Non Academic Staff of Universities, NASU and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, the National Association of Academic Technologists, (NAAT) of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Chapter, has also joined the sister unions to declared a 3-day strike to drive home their demands.
The chairman of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Chapter, Bashir Ibrahim Zwall, at the gate of the university, said the directive was given by the National Body of the Union.
For the past three days, the gates of the university has become a parking space for cars and motorcycles of lecturers and students, who are denied access to the school premises, forcing them to pack outside the gate, and trek using the small entrance.
This time around, the National Association of Academic Technologists, (NAAT), is downing tools in a 3-day warning strike.
Some of their demands include payment of withheld salaries and other benefits.
The protest is coming at a time when Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University students are writing exams, and are calling for amicable negotiations with the striking unions, decrying the current hardship which they say has affected them negatively.
