State Governors have described the assassination attempt on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State as “shocking and a rude awakening”.
Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State in a statement on Sunday said all hands must be on deck to uncover the identities of those involved in the heinous crime.

The umbrella body of the Governors also warned that the attempt to make Benue State ungovernable is unacceptable and will fail woefully.
Recalling the assassination of the brother of the former Governor of Benue State, the Forum noted that the dishonourable and shameful act of resorting to violence to eliminate citizens of Benue State by brutal means must not continue.
The Forum pledged to continue to encourage its members to stand firm in the service of their people regardless of the evil machinations of those who do not wish Nigeria well.
