Managing director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, Fidet Okhiria has confirmed the breakdown of a Lagos-bound train from Kano on Monday.
In a telephone conversation with ait.live, Okhiria said following repeated reports of engine failure of the locomotive, the NRC had to order the operators to discontinue the journey within a safe location. He added that the transportation fares paid by the passengers were also refunded.

Earlier, one of the passengers on the train had released a video on social media, raising concerns over the incident.
The Kano-Lagos mono rail resumed operations after the ease on Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.
