The union members, urged the employers in both the private and public sectors, to build Mutual accommodation in their dealings with the unions as a Sine qua non, saying it is proper for management and leadership of Trade Unions in the sector, to always adopt a consultative decision-making approach through shared roles and responsibilities.

Participants reiterated the need for adequate budgetary provision, for improved Capacity building for the smooth operation of the aviation sector, considering its role in the Nation’s quest for rapid development and identified the need for succession planning in the industry, through adequate capacity building, career mentorship and motivational incentives.

Key Speakers at the event said it is important to adopt strong human resource management policies, aimed at ensuring the harmonisation and to enhance workers’ career and welfare and urged Trade Unions in the aviation sector, to continuously form a strong alliance, by strengthening JATUF to secure workers’ interest through a jointly agreed sectorial collective bargaining agreement.

The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, represented by the Director of Public Affairs in the Ministry, James Odaudu, assured workers that govt will continue to engage members on labour-related issues, in collective bargaining and to sustain peace and harmony in the work environment.
