Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria Tuesday signed the the state’s 2020 appropriation bill of 1.1 Trillion into law.
Christened “Budget of Olimpotic Merismasis”, the budget is geared towards bringing to fruition, the signature projects of the administration, including the 270 kilometre superhighway connecting Cross River with Northern Nigeria.
The Governor said the era of envelope budgeting is over in Cross River State, saying the achievements recorded so far in the state despite financial challenges was as a result of intellectual money introduced by his administration in previous Budgets.
Earlier, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Eteng Williams, while presenting the budget to the Governor for signing said the Assembly will vigorously carry out oversight functions on all the items listed in the budget.
Eighty-Two percent of the budget is for capital expenditure while 18 percent is for recurrent expenditure.
