Ayo Fasanmi dies, to be buried August 4th

Families, friends, political associates and government officials have continued to pay condolence visits to the Osogbo residence of an elder statesman and leader of Afenifere group, Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi.

According to a statement signed by the eldest son of the late Justice Obafemi Fasanmi, Ayo Fasanmi died on Wednesday evening at a general hospital in Osogbo.

He is expected to be buried on Tuesday 4th of August at his hometown in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti state.

 Sympathizers who had called earlier to condole family members came in trickles.

Some of them spoke on the legacy of the 94 years old late Ayo Fasanmi who would have been 95 by September

Son of late Fasanmi, Folabi Fasanmi spoke glowingly about his father who was a former House of Representatives member and former Senator in the second republic. He also gave some details about the late father’s burial arrangement.

Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi a national leader of Pan Yoruba group, Afenifere was born on Spetember 27th 1926.

He was National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in 1977, elected into the Senate in 1979, and became a member of the House of Representatives in 1983.

He made enviable and remarkable contributions to his profession, to the socio-political development of Yorubaland, and to the nation at large.

Pa Ayorinde Fasanmi died on Wednesday evening at Asubiaro state hospital in osogbo, during a brief illness.
