Former Nigeria Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode wants the Federal Government to permanently compensate and resettle the displaced people of Bakassi as recommended by the Green Tree Agreement and the International Court of Justice Judgement.
Fani-Kayode who joined Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State to inspect the newly built Bakassi Housing Estate at Ifiang-Ayong for the returnees said the territory should not have been ceded in the first place due to lack of referendum from the affected people and the non-ratification of the judgement by the national assembly.

The former Aviation Minister while commending Governor Ben Ayade for his humanitarian services to the people of Bakassi opined that the injustice done to the people of Bakassi by the Federal Government will be addressed.
Governor Ben Ayade who decried the huge resources committed to the welfare of the affected communities following the effect of the ceding, wants the federal government to urgently intervene.
The displaced people of Bakassi have been living in IDP camps in secondary schools for eight years before Governor Ayade built an ultra-modern Estate with facilities, a development, Fani-Kayode described as humanity personified.
