Over 200 youths of Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria Sunday afternoon blocked the ever-busy Calabar-Ikang Road over the killing of two of people identified as Asuquo and Papa, by a gun bearing operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The angry youths who carried placards with different inscriptions said the activities of Civil Defence officials within the Bakassi riverine communities are becoming unbearable. The youths insisted that Bakassi people have been subjected to sufferings after the ceding of their ancestral lands without care for their means of livelihood.
Eyo Asuquo and Linus Essein led the protests with a call on President Muhammadu Buhari through the Office of the National Security Adviser to come to their aid by calling the Civil Defence to order.
