A Bandit leader said to be holding the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State and its environs to ransom has been killed, while two soldiers sustained injuries in a recent attack at a military base at Tegina, in Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, June 10
During a gun duel, the bandits were allegedly crossing towards Mashegu and Wushishi Local Government Areas of the state to rustle cattle.
The Chairman of Rafi Local Government Area, Ayuba Katako, who confirmed the attack, said the two soldiers were responding to treatment at a medical facility in Minna, while one of the terrorists suspected to be their leader was neutralised.

According to Katako, the military, police, and members of the vigilante are trying their best to ensure peace and security of lives and property in the state, and deserve to be commended.
He further decried the continuous, unexpected attacks on security personnel.
He calls for patience, support and prayers to overcome the menace of insecurity bedevilling the state and Nigeria at large.
When contacted, the military authorities in the state said they would confirm and revert on the authenticity of the report.
Tegina, in the Rafi Local Government Area has been worst hit by the activities of terrorists in recent times, especially the attack on military formations.
