An arrested 50-year-old Surajo Mamman, also known as Kutaku, who is the Second in Command to a bandits’ leader, Sani Mohindige says he has lost count of the number of persons he has killed while making millions of Naira as proceeds from ransom.

Mamman who said this when he was being paraded by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, also added that he never saw his actions as wrongdoings, but with his arrest, he thinks it is God’s appointed time.

Parading the 50-year-old Surajo Mamman, popularly known as ‘Kutaku’, the Police spokesman, Superintendent Gambo Isah said, the suspect is the Second in Command of Sani Muhidinge, a wanted bandit on the government’s watchlist residing in the dreaded Rugu Forest, between Katsina and the Zamfara State.

The suspected Surajo Mamman said, he had been involved in kidnapping and other banditry related crimes, spanning over 15 years, and has made millions of Naira from the proceeds of ransom which he used to feed his family.

He added that he cannot remember the exact number of people he has killed or kidnapped, saying they are many and described himself as a “sharp-shooter.”

Mamman also confessed that in one of the attacks he commanded on a highway, he shot at 5 persons, of which 4 died on the spot.

He could not say whether the fifth person survived.

He said his arrest is the will of God, and is ready to face the consequences.

He further confessed to have participated in so many attacks, kidnapping and cattle rustling in villages at DanMusa, Safana, Dutsinma and Batsari Local Government Areas of the state.

The arrest of the 50-year-old Surajo Mamman is coming barely 48 hours after 30-year-old Ibrahim Ismaila, also known as Yellow, a bandits’ commander was arrested by the police.

This brings to 2, several commanders arrested from the camp of wanted bandits’ leader Sani Mohindige, since the onslaught against the bandits in the forest.

Isah said the suspects will be charged to court at the end of the investigations.
