In a statement by the Police spokesman, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, the incident occurred on August 7 between the hours of 5:pm to 8:pm when the bandits in their numbers, riding on over forty motorcycles, raided villages in Safana, Kurfi, and Dutsinma LGAs of Katsina State.

The statement added that, during the raid, the bandits succeeded in rustling over three hundred animals which included cows, sheep, and goats.

Following the receipt of the distress call, a combined team of Policemen and vigilante groups were mobilized, and blocked the hoodlums at their exit route into the forest, between Dagarawa and Tsaskiya cattle route.
