Katsina State government has provided a piece of land for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to be used as operational base against banditry.

The move is aimed at finding lasting solution to banditry in the Northwest and parts of the North Central region.

Governor Aminu Masari, who inspected the land in Gwauruwa Village in Funtua Area Council of the state, said it will enable the NAF to respond as quickly as possible to bandit attacks or any act of criminality.

Masari, who inspected the 32 hectares of land accompanied by some top NAF officials, said the area was used as an airstrip during the Second World War.

He hinted that the space will now be revived to serve as not only an helipad, but for other requirements for effective air operations against bandits in the Northwest and parts of the North Central to rid the regions of insecurity.
