A man living with disability, 22-year-old Buhari Haruna, from Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, is cooling his heels with the police for allegedly threatening to abduct a victim if the sum of 2 million Naira ransom was not paid.
Police spokesman in the state, Superintendent Gambo Isah, while parading the suspect, alongside 9 others for various offences said, Haruna was rounded up when he allegedly went for the ransom, disguised as a loaf of bread, at the location agreed.

According to Isah, the message of the arrest is not in the arrested suspect, but to disabuse the minds of the public, not to panic when they receive phone calls or threats of abduction.
The Police spokesman added that nemesis caught up with the suspect when the police obliged the victim threatened to be abducted to comply, by paying the 2 million Naira ransom, after he reported the case to the police.
He said, with the issue of Haruna, its now obvious that even those who are not expected to commit crimes are now taking advantage of the public’s fear of abduction, to perpetrate kidnap.
Speaking on his arrest, the 22-year-old suspect Buhari Haruna, did not deny the crime, saying he called the victim with whom he lives in the same location and threatened that, if he does not pay the 2 million Naira ransom, the victim risks been kidnapped.
He said he regrets his actions, as he is needy while pleading for assistance and help, at the same time from the police, to temper justice with mercy.
Other arrests include 5 commercial vehicle drivers, who flouted the Security Challenges Containment Order, by coming from the affected local government areas to buy petrol in their vehicles tanks, and go back to sell to suspected bandits.
Others include, a man alleged to have been supplying bread to bandits, a man also suspected to be supplying petrol to bandits by buying in his motorcycle, as well as 2 others, for vandalizing transformer cables in Bindawa Local Government Area.
