Banditry: Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Destroy Hideouts In Zamfara, Katsina, Others

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Northwest, of Operation Hadarin Daji, have neutralized two suspected terrorists, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria.

The troops who recorded the feat continued with a series of clearance and offensive operations, conducted by troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, OPHD, to clear its Area of Responsibility (AOR) in the Northwest, of Banditry, kidnapping, and other sundry crimes, as well as to ensure that farming and other economic activities thrive in the region.

According to a top military source, the troops acted on an intelligence report on suspected terrorist activities at Kinfau Kirtawa, in Batsari LGA of Katsina State, where troops of Sector 2 Team 9 of OPHD were conducting an offensive operation within the area, encountered the suspected terrorists.

They engaged them in a gun battle, during which two of the terrorists were killed, while many of them escaped with gunshot wounds.

Also, in the pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, troops captured one of their motorcycles.

The military source also disclosed that, on the 30th and 31st of July, troops of Sector 2 Combat Team 3 of Operation Hadarin Daji deployed to Katsina State, in conjunction with the Nigerian Police in Dandume, responded to information that terrorists had kidnapped two persons in their farmlands, along Tankari Village in Dandume LGA of Katsina State.

The troops responded swiftly and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their kidnapped victims and flee.

Also, troops of Operation Hadarin Daji deployed to Sector 3 Forward Operating Base, Marnona in Sokoto State, in Northwest Nigeria, conducted offensive operation, during which terrorist hideouts were identified and destroyed at Giyawa, Kafarama, Danwaru, Boyekei, Kagara, Aisa, Kwargaba, and Lugu Villages of Wurno and Goronyo LGAs of Sokoto State.

All identified terrorists’ hideouts were destroyed as the terrorists escaped due to the superior firepower of the troops.

Five operational motorcycles used by the terrorists were captured during the operation

Furthermore, troops of Sector 1 Team 10 of Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara and Kebbi States, conducted a clearance operation and cleared terrorist hideouts at Dan Makarwa, Tundun Wada, and Mairairai Villages in Danko-wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.

The terrorists have continued to flee from their enclaves.

The Commander of the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, who is the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has continued to commend the resilience and doggedness of the troops.

He further assured the people of the region that more terrorist enclaves would be attacked and destroyed in the days ahead
