Attack by gunmen on Zugpak village in Jama’a LGA of Kaduna State near Kafanchan has left 9 people dead and several others missing.

The attackers returned to the village on Saturday morning for a second onslaught after the deadly invasion in the late hours of Friday in which the gunmen shot sporadically.

The ait.live team was in Zugpak around 7.30am on Saturday when the armed men came back to the area again and started shooting sporadically with everyone running for his or her life. The team narrowly escaped the attack through the bush.

As at the time of this report, 5 persons were confirmed to have sustained injured with 5 houses also burnt down in the attack.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has extended the 24-hour curfew currently in force in Kauru and Zangon-Kataf LGAs to Jema’a and Kaura LGAs with immediate effect to contain the deadly violence and enforce law and order.

The official Twitter handle of the Kaduna State Governor had tweeted that “More security assets have been placed in southern Kaduna since 2017 when an army base was built in Kafanchan. Troops from Operation Safe Haven and two mobile police squadrons are also deployed in the area. These boots on the ground need communities to resolve to live in peace”.
