Bandits have abducted the District Head of Gayari community in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Hassan Mohammed.
The traditional ruler was kidnapped along with his son, Safiyanu Mohammed.
According to an eyewitness, the District Head’s son was later released.
The eyewitness narrated that the bandits stormed the community between the hour of 10 and 11 pm and they went straight to the District Head’s house to kidnap him and his son.

He said that the bandits on entering the community started shooting sporadically to scare residents away.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed to reporters in a telephone conversation that the District Head and his son were kidnapped on Thursday night by suspected bandits who come from neighbouring Kebbi State.
