The Police have confirmed the killing of a village head and one other person following the attack on Kujemi village in Dansadau Emirate of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State by suspected bandits.
In a statement made available to reporters in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 8.40 pm.
The statement further said some suspected bandits in large numbers invaded the village and killed one Malam Gambo of Karauchi village and Mustapha Haliru of Dansadau District.
The PPRO said on receipt of the information, a combined team of policemen attached to Operation Puff Adder in conjunction with the military, have been dispatched to the area to forestall further attack on neighbouring villages as well as to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
The Command is appealing for continued support and cooperation from members of the public by giving useful information on activities of criminal elements with a view to taking proactive measures.
