No fewer than 20 people are said to have been killed by bandits across 5 villages in Zurmi and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
A resident of one of the villages, Umar Abubakar, said several other persons were left with various degrees of gunshot wounds, and are currently receiving medical attention in Kaura Namoda, Zurmi and Birnin Magaji General Hospitals.
Some of the victims narrated in Hausa language, how the bandits on about 300 motorcycles stormed their villages on Saturday, at about 2pm Nigerian time, and started shooting sporadically, killing 20 people, while several of them sustained gunshot wounds.
Residents of the affected villages are not happy with the unpleasant development that is creating untold hardship for them.
Umar Abubakar, whose uncle is one of the victims of the attack said, the situation is going out of hands.

He said, the government needs to do more to protect the people from being attacked by the bandits.
For these victims of bandits’ attack, the State and the Federal Governments are absent on duty, if not they would not have allowed bandits to launch attacks against them, without the intervention of security operatives to keep the killers at bay.
Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, in a telephone conversation, said the police is aware, and has since deployed tactical teams to the affected villages, to restore peace and security in the areas.
