Bandits kill 35 persons, raze down 239 buildings in Zango Kataf

Suspected bandits have again attacked Ma-gata, and Mangauri villages in Atyab Chiefdom of Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State North-West Nigeria. The attacks reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.

Public Relations Officer of the Atyap Community Development Association, ACDA, Marcos Pius, told ait.live that at Ma-gata, 2 persons were killed during the attack and 8 houses burnt, while in Mangauri, 19 houses were razed down and many sustained who sustained injuries were taken to hospital for treatment.

This is coming after different armed groups attacked 6 communities on Tuesday, in the same chiefdom, leaving 33 persons killed.

In a statement by the the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU on Tuesday, 4 churches and 215 other houses were set ablaze.

Wednesday’s attack brings to a total of 5 churches and 234 houses so far burnt in the renewed deadly attacks.

SOKAPU youth leader, Isaac John, in a statement on Wednesday called on the people of Southern Kaduna to be united and come out en mass, to defend themselves and their communities, against incessant killings and kidnappings in the area.
