Four policemen and one Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Officer have been reported killed by suspected bandits at the Gora Community in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Another police officer critically injured is also receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The police spokesman in Zamfara State, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, who confirmed the attack, said that the security operatives were on patrol in the community, when the bandits ambushed and killed five of them.

Superintendent Shehu explained that the ambush followed the termination of an unspecified number of bandits, who blocked the Bakura – Sokoto road on Sunday afternoon.
According to him, the police had sent a reinforcement to trace the bandits inside the forest, where six rifles belonging to the police were recovered from the bandits, after a gun duel that lasted for hours.
