The police have confirmed that 6 persons lost their lives, while 3 others were injured, during a reprisal attack on Kanawa village of Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
Police spokesperson in Katsina State, Gambo Isah who confirmed the incident said, the bandits were on a reprisal attack due to the death of one of them, killed by the villagers in Kanawa.
According to Isah, the attack was spearheaded by a wanted notorious bandit leader in the area, Mani Doro.
He said, boys believed to be loyal to Doro went to Kanawa village to rustle some animals, but met stiff resistance from the villagers, leading to the death of one of them.
Isah added that as a result, they regrouped and launched a reprisal, leading to the death of the 6 villagers, and Injury of 3 others.

A source in the area said, the bandits came in on about 60 motorcycles on Saturday night at about 8:30 pm, and carted away some domestic animals belongings to a new couple in the village.
He added that those killed have been buried, while the 3 injured are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
The police image maker said, the Area Commander and the Divisional Police Officer have led some men to the village.
He added that from reports gathered, efforts have been intensified to arrest the bandits’ leader, Mani Doro and his boys, to face the full wrath of the law.
The attack is coming few days after the Police repelled another on Wurma and Yarbudu villages of Kurfi Local Government Area, during which, 5 of the bandits were reportedly killed.
