No fewer than seven Police personnel have been reportedly killed by bandits in an ambush along the Tofa-Magame Road in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.
Sources said the incident occurred at about 6 pm Nigerian time when the police operatives were patrolling in the area.
The bandits were said to have ambushed the police operatives, killing six of them, and setting ablaze the operational vehicle, with the driver inside.
The sources said that the bandits who were about 100, engaged the Police operatives in a gun duel, before overpowering them and killing seven.
The sources said that before anyone could run to call for reinforcement, the bandits had killed the seven police operatives and set ablaze their operational vehicle.

The sources said the shutting down of telecommunication services and bad roads are affecting the fight against banditry in the state.
The bodies of the seven police operatives have been deposited at the Yarima Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the state capital.
