About eight persons are said to have been killed by suspected bandits at Damaga village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A source from the village told our correspondent on telephone that the bandits stormed the farms at about 9 am on Saturday, when the affected farmers were clearing their farmlands.
He also said the suspected bandits killed the farmers but did not rustle any cattle.

Sources say that the intent and purpose of the bandits is to prevent farmers from farming activities this year, He said that those who were killed have been buried.
Police Public Relations Officer in Zamfara State, SP Mohammed Shehu, has confirmed that the police have received the report about the incident.
He said the actual number of the casualties have not been ascertained yet.
This latest incident is coming barely two days after the Zamfara State governor Bello Mohammed had directed the immediate closure of four markets in the state, to forestall threat to security and to restore peace and order in most parts of the state.
